Rafa Benitez had a busy weekend in Munich where he was the expert commentator for Eurosport at the Bayern - Schalke 04 match. The match finished with a win for the Bavarians in a stadium filled with both sets of fans but where, on the pitch, the home team were the better side. Benitez took the opportunity to meet up again with the Spanish striker, Raul Gonzalez Blanco, formerly of Real Madrid and Spain, who is now on the books of Schalke and who was given his debut for Castilla in the Spanish professional leagues by the coach from Madrid at Palamos. The number 7 was pleased to see Rafa despite him not having too much time. It was immediately after the match and just as players were going in to the dressing room.

Before the game, and in the Sky Germany room, Steffen Freund and Rafa Benitez met Franz Beckenbauer and discussed the modern game and his memories of the legendary German.
