Police Team take on London to Paris bike challenge

What is it?
A team of 6 policemen from the Wirral
(5 Riders and 1 Support Driver from Heswall Police Station)
will push themselves to the limit in October attempting to ride from London to Paris,
a distance of approximately 465 Kms in just 4 days.

What is the route?
The team of 5 plus a support van & driver will leave Monday 3rd October 2011 and head off of the 85 mile route to Dover for an evening crossing to Calais. Starting out again at 7am the following morning, the team will continue on the remainder of the 220 mls over 3 days through Arras and Compiegne to reach the Eiffel Tower.

When is it?
3rd October 2011 – 6th October 2011

Who is on the team?
Riders - Graham Parker (Sergeant), Mark Joynson (Constable), Derek Murphy (Con), Neil Kennedy (Con), Mark Broderick (Con).
Support Driver – Steve Johnston (Special Constable).

All officers are based at Heswall Police Station.

Why are they doing it?
Heswall Police Station celebrates its Centenary Anniversary in 2011 and the community-based police officers are keen to promote this by raising monies for the community in which they serve. The Montse Benitez Foundation links in perfectly with this event. The Foundation, formed by the former Liverpool Football Club manager’s wife aims to support charities on Wirral and Merseyside, which is where they themselves have chosen to live permanently.

Holidays for Children
Hoylake Cottage
