Benitez: "A deserved third win in the Champions League showing great character"
The Azurro coach sees positive signs of growth, but remembers that it "will be difficult but I have full confidence in my team"
Rafa Benitez felt satisfied after his team's victory against Olympique Marseille (3-2), making a positive analysis of the game that Napoli has won with their heart first and then with a great game. "I've seen a lot of character and positive signs of growth evident tonight". The coach applauded tonight’s excellent performance of SSC Napoli.
"We knew the importance of this meeting, to get three victories in the Champions League and take 9 points so far is an important step towards further progress" argued Benitez. He explained "I am satisfied because it was not an easy game and we have been very well organized and have achieved a great victory".
"We probably could and should have got a fourth goal, but overall the mindset and determination of the players pleased me. Now we have to get a result in Germany, which will be very hard but if we can play the game with the same force that we showed today",said the coach of SSC Napoli.
The group remains open with options proving why it has been called the "group of death", as Benitez recalled in the press conference after the match: "We are in a group of 'Champions League' of the highest level, it may be possible to get twelve points and could still not be sufficient for qualification. This is an example of the difficulty we face. We thought we would play the decisive game at home against Arsenal but now things have changed a lot and the encounter with Borussia Dortmund has taken on even greater importance".
In addition, Napoli and Rafa Benitez face Juventus in the league with the coach of the 'azzurro' saying, "Now we have to concentrate on Sunday's game, we have to check the overall fitness of the squad and value each player to be the best in Turin. Clearly the injury of Mesto and Zuniga leave us with several alternatives, but we must grit our teeth and continue. I have full confidence in this team and I know you can still grow a lot and do as well as we are doing so far".
