Large audience for talk by Rafa Benitez
More than 600 people in the attentive audience for his talk which opened the Toledo Congress
In front of a packed auditorium in the Hotel Beatriz in Toledo, Rafa Benitez gave the first presentation at the third edition of the National Coaches Congress taking place in the 'imperial city' until next Sunday 3 June. According to the organisers, the Coaches Committee of Castellano-Manchego supported by the National Committee, there were around 600 coaches and observers gathered at this increasingly important forum.
Rafa Benitez drew on his experience in the three main football leagues in the world, as coach of Valencia CF, Liverpool FC and Inter Milan, amongst others, to analyse the secret of success. He went through different football cultures, philosophies and ways of working at different successful clubs such as the Champions League winners in recent years. He mentioned new technologies, comparing them to the last couple of decades and he demonstrated his new project, Globall Coach, a program borne out of the idea to have a useful tool for his staff to work with but recently released to the public. His intention is that all coaches should have access to new technologies and specifically Globall Coach.
Perhaps the most interesting part of Benitez's talk was the audience participation, as a Third Division coach and a fitness coach of the same level shared the floor with him.
Before the presentation he paid a surprise tribute to the coach Vicente Miera who won gold at the Barcelona 92 Olympics. Miera along with Eduardo Caturla, had lunch with Rafa Benitez and his team before the congress opened.
