On Tuesday 29 May the Heswall Golf Club Ladies Section held a Ladies Invitation Day. There were 21 teams of four players, and playing with Pauline Jones the Lady Captain was Linda Weston, Heather Ensor and Rose Kernighan (past Lady Captain at Bromborough).

The “Invitation” game was played with “Mulligans” ruling which meant that the players could pay to take another shot after having played a bad stroke, and all monies raised from playing “Mulligans” to go to the MBF.

Counting the monies raised from the Ladies Open Day and the Lady Captain’s Charity Medal event both held in May, and including today’s event, Heswall Golf Club Ladies will have raised £500 for the MBF to date.

Pauline told us of the forthcoming fund-raising events they have planned throughout the year. On Sunday 8 July they are holding their “Am-Am” competition & family fun day which will include a “Beat the Pro” competition.  There will be a Champagne Afternoon on Tuesday 5 June, and then a further Ladies Invitation Day in July, from which any funds raised will go to the MBF. There will also be other events throughout the year which will further help with the fund-raising.

Pauline’s elderly Mum is also busy knitting cotton dishcloths to help raise funds for the MBF – thank you Pauline’s Mum!

Heswall Ladies Golf will be holding their annual dinner on 14 November, and propose to make a partial donation to Montse and Linda for the MBF during the evening. The main donation to the MBF will be at end of February 2013 when Pauline retires as Lady Captain.

Pauline has recommended that with the monies raised by Heswall Ladies Golf Club for the MBF, we make a donation to the Wirral Society for the Blind and Partially Sighted (WSBPS).  This is a charity that has been very supportive to Pauline’s elderly mother in the past, and so would be pleased if they could benefit from a donation.

The MBF would like to thank Pauline Jones, and Heswall Golf Club Ladies Section who have nominated to support the MBF as their charity of the year.  Their generosity will enable us to continue our support of small local independent charities.
