Here are some comments about the Bournemouth game made by Rafa in the press conference today:

  • CHRONICLE LIVE

"Obviously after an important win everyone is a bit happier. Hopefully we carry on. It’s difficult when you are in this situation and we needed to get 3 points to get more confidence and be ready for this one. This game is totally different, we must be really focused".

"Bournemouth are a good team, they are well organised - so it will not be easy to play ‘expansive football’ as they call it on the TV. We will try to win the game, though. They are a settled team with PL experience".

"We must improve in defence, but more so in attack. We need to be more clinical. For me I think we have good balance, we just need to take our chances. If so, we can have a very good goal difference this season, which could be crucial".

"I am really proud of my record here (50 wins), but we have to focus on the future. I am not happy we have only won one game this season. I want us to be able to talk about a lot of wins by the end of the season, too".

"Obviously after an important win, everybody is a little bit happier. You can feel the difference on the training pitch and in the city. And also your questions are nicer. They are easier!

"The confidence is higher but we need to keep doing the right things. Hopefully, we can continue with the same feeling after the next game".

"We were not winning. I think we deserved to win some of the games we played - but we were not and we needed to get three points and have more confidence. But I was telling the players that we have to be really focused on this game, because it is just one step forward. We have to keep working and start running".

"Muto and Shelvey, they were not training. Jamaal had a training session, but I think it will be difficult for him to play tomorrow. Maybe all three will be out. The other players understand what they have to do - all they have to do is what they did last week".
