Rafa Benítez, SSC Napoli head coach, was very happy and satisfied with his team ́s victory and goal scoring in the eighth week of the Serie A. He also wanted to firmly highlight that there was not much difference between this game, which ended with six goals in their favour, and the other games they have played recently which ended with a draw or even defeat. In the press conference at the end of the game against Hellas Verona (6-2) he stated: "perhaps the most important thing, the most significant consequence of this victory, in my point of view, are the signs of true growth of this team despite everything that has been said and written".

"I have to say, as is fair to do so, that I have liked almost everything I have seen throughout the game today", recognised the Spanish coach, who continued: "clearly, I have said almost because there is always room for improvement. However, I think in today ́s game the team have more than shown what they are capable of on the pitch and also the huge potential they have for the near future".

Napoli had to turn the scoreline round in a game that within the first minute left them a goal behind after visitor Emil Hallfredsson scored. Concerning the reaction of the Neapolitan team, Benítez explained: "after conceding the first goal I think we reacted really well, we controlled the game and constantly attacked our rival. Additionally, we maintained ball possession (up to 75% in the first half) and we created many chances to score. This is evidence that if we play at our maximum level we can win many games and also show our strength and quality".

Both, Higuaín who scored three goals and Hamsik who scored two, broke their goal scoring dry spell, the 'azzurro' coach highlighted the excellent work of his football players: "we are talking about two true champions, nobody doubts that. Marek (Hamsik) has once again shown that he can score and play well in any position on the pitch. Gonzalo (Higuaín) could have scored even more goals today, he scored four but only three were given. I am not surprised with their ability and I have commented on this many times and I have shown confidence in that a day like today would come for them.  It won ́t be their last. I have always maintained that we count on players of a very high level and a squad that in many respects is stronger than last year. As I have said on more than one occasion we have to continue down this track because we can prove that it is working little by little. That ́s the reality, this afternoon we have seen significant signs of growth, both in mental aspects and the development of the game".

"It is also important to be self critical, perhaps we have failed in neutralising second plays in the defensive phase. That is something we are working on and we must improve", recognised the head coach of the Neapolitan team who added: "but in general I really liked the character shown by the team, including after Nico Lopez scored the second goal for our rivals. After that goal we continued to play with that same intensity and we deservedly won the game".

When asked if Napoli has finally regained their goal scoring ability, Benítez replied: "I think we need maximum determination on the pitch, without forgetting our style of play. Games are decided by small details as evidenced in the past. This afternoon I noted that we saw a game very similar to the game against Chievo. What has been the difference? Well, on that occasion we had up to twenty chances at goal and the ball would not go in. Today once again we created a lot of danger but the difference is that we were able to get the ball in the net up to six times. Well seven but one was disallowed. I have always had absolute confidence in these players and in this technical team, you have all witnessed this. And I honestly think we are still on route to achieving important things this year", concluded the Spanish coach.
