For Rafa Benítez, SSC Napoli head coach, the defeat against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk which knocked them out of the UEFA Europa League last night was difficult to bear, he recognised that it was really disappointing. This painful epilogue to a magnificent European campaign for the Neapolitan team did not do justice to the hard work and effort shown by his squad. The Spaniard focused on this point at the post match press conference at the Olympic stadium in Kiev and showed how he was once again disappointed with the number of missed chances they had experienced. He analysed the key aspects of the defeat stating: "We created many chances at goal in both games and the reality is that we did not make the most of them. This is the truth and it is largely why we are out. We had to score and if we had done so we would have achieved much more".

"The truth is that we missed many chances to score. If we add together both games we reached the opposite goal many times however we were not able to score more than one goal, not much more can be said", recognised the Spanish coach who then added: "I honestly really lament that we have not got through, but I have to analyse everything on the pitch and already in the first play of the game we could have got ahead but it did not happen. I think that this is the key to this defeat; we did not have precision in goal with the chances we generated. It is a shame, we are all disappointed because I think we deserved more than we got in both games, but we should have performed better particularly in front of the goal. This is our fault, we cannot blame anybody in this respect".

Dnipro's goal ended SSC Napoli aspirations in the European competition. The goal, like the one at the San Paolo stadium, could have been considered irregular. Concerning this the head coach of the Neapolitan team stated: "yes it is true, but we cannot do anything to change that decision. Irregular goal here and at home? They are in the final and we are out. It is a great disappointment for the whole squad. Now we must focus on our last three games because we still have the chance to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. I have complete confidence that we can finish this season well".
