Rafa Benítez analysed the International Champions Cup match against Milan, which saw the Whites claim victory on penalties to win the tournament: "This match is the end of the tour, with extreme heat, the pitch was difficult and we were up against a new team that had been waiting for us for seven days".

Tour

"The overall assessment is very positive on a tour of these characteristics. The team deserves praise for its attitude, for its good play and for the results it has picked up".

Goalkeepers

"I had a good goalkeeper in the first half (Keylor Navas), another in the second (Kiko Casilla) and a third waiting, and in case that's misinterpreted I mean the lad on the bench. I reiterate that we have to keep on working and things will steadily take shape".

Squad

"The squad we have is a good one, I have to work with them and if anyone comes in they'll be a welcome addition, but they have to improve what we currently have. Have I asked for anyone? My conversations with the board are private".

"We knew the characteristics of the team. In some passages they've shown good bite in attack and we're steadily making adjustments in defence so as not to concede goals. It's important that we continue to score goals and avoid letting any in. We've had some very good passages during the tour".

Starting eleven

"I like to work with my squad. We'll try to make sure that those who can improve continue to do so, that everyone continues to grow. We know that some are more important than others, but we want those who are aren't so important right now to be important during the season".

Bale

"He's a player who attacks the space, who moves well between the lines and who gives us a lot of firepower up front".

Fans

"The message is pretty clear: we're going to work hard, we're going to show desire and we're going to be all out to do the right things, showing common sense, and from there the quality of the players is what makes the difference".
