Visit to Barnstondale and Cheque Donation

02/07/2013

Last Thursday Montse, Linda and Chris went along to Barnstondale Centre. A few months ago they had approached us about helping fund a specially made trailer. This trailer was to take both disabled and abled children down into to dale to experience life in the outdoors.

Barnstondale Centre has three cabins for hire. One cabin sleeps up to 54 the second cabin can sleep 48 or 18 plus 30 when divided off. The last cabin recently finished holds up to 6 disabled children and 4 carers. This cabin has been fitted out magnificently with every available gadget that may be required for disabled children. Along with lifts and a kitchen there is a sensory room where the children can go during the day and during the night if they cannot sleep.

It was decided that the money raised from our Winter Golfers and Winter golfing events would be used to fund this specially designed and made trailer, and so a cheque for £3000 was handed over by Montse to George Jones, the Centre Manager.

Thursday was the day to unveil the trailer. Sadly Thursday it rained heavily. We were shown the trailer and how it can take both wheelchairs and able bodied people down into the dale. We were treated to a journey in the tractor pulling the trailer back up to the car park!

We are delighted to have been able to help with such a wonderful item that can help the disabled children have the same experience as the able bodied children.

We wish to thank George and Heidi and their small staff of exceedingly hard working people who pull together to help improve the lives of children of all abilities. We wish them huge success in the future.
