OUR WORK
Over the last 2 years the Foundation has raised and distributed over £114,000 to more than 20 local charities and good causes. Some of the more recent donations that we have made were to the Barnstondale Centre, which is a facility for holiday/activity breaks for both abled and disabled children. We paid for a specially designed and built trailer to enable the disabled children along with the abled children to be taken down into the dale itself for nature work and outdoor activities. Wirral Disabled Marine Association also received a specially adapted trailer to enable them to get their boats from their boathouse to the lakeside for launching. Wirral Play Council have renovated a "Sensory Room" for their children and this included a complete rewire. Wirral Society for the Blind and Partially Sighted were treated to a new Braille embossing machine along with the software to drive it. We continue collecting any items including clothing for The Charles Thompson Mission. All donations can be deposited in a "bin" placed outside Montse’s house. Larger items we arrange to be picked up. We continue to help The Charles Thompson Mission with food supplies and this year a supply of milk delivered to them daily. Where possible we follow a policy of making grants in kind rather than putting cash into a general fund. We held a golf event at Caldy Golf Club this month which raised £7150-00 and we decided to top it up to £8,000 for the Wirral Autistic Lifetime Appeal. WAS are building an 8 bedded unit at Raby Hall to enable 8 autistic people to live in semi independence. Montse will break the ground on 2nd June 2014 and this will begin the much needed facility at Raby Hall. The Foundation is focused on helping smaller charities on Merseyside and the Wirral. We prefer that they have few professional staff or fund-raisers who nevertheless deliver real benefits to the disadvantaged and disabled. Montse is very proud that none of her team of helpers are paid in any way and that they all support her and her charity work.
